What is Uber’s multi-modal plan?

Bus ticketing is the latest addition to Uber’s UK offer. Is there a clear strategy from the company for its role in wider transport provision?

Uber has been increasingly promoting partnerships with public transport operators to expand its offer beyond the original private hire car service. It launched a major promotion of its offer of train information and to book rail journeys in the UK last autumn (see LTT881, 28 Nov 2023), offers coach ticket sales, and has a sponsorship deal with the main commuter boat operator on the river Thames.

The West Midlands bus ticket arrangement is its first such scheme in the UK.
