Drivers in the West Midlands have been warned of a new text message-based scam linked to a fake version of council website.
Sefton Council said motorists were being targeted by text messages requesting payments for unpaid parking fines and being directed to a website designed to look like the council's secure web portal where they are asked to submit their financial information and confirm payment.
