Dublin Bus is to cut 290 jobs and reduce its fleet by 120 vehicles in a bid to reduce losses as a result of the economic downturn.

The cuts amount to a 10% cut in both total fleet and staff numbers at the firm, which operates the urban bus network in the Irish capital. They are being made as a result of a “serious and challenging” financial position in 2009. Losses for the current financial year are projected at €31m, up from €10m in 2008, unless “corrective...
