Profits slip at Northern Rail as costs rises beat revenue

PROFITS fell at train operator Northern Rail back by 9% in the 52 weeks ended January 5 2008, according to the company’s annual accounts.

The company operates local and inter-urban rail services throughout Northern England, including the busy urban networks in West and South Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.
