Wiltshire Council aims to boost local retailers by devising a car park redemption scheme whereby motorists will receive a discount on their parking charges if they purchase goods from independent retailers. The scheme will apply to all council-owned pay and display off-street car parks. Wiltshire will spend £50,000 on promotional material, signs and two-part parking tickets. Redemption schemes already operate in some Wiltshire towns.
