Telford and Wrekin Council has found an operator for its Telford International Rail Freight Park, which has been a ‘white elephant’ since opening in 2009. The council is to sign a lease and operating agreement for the site with rail freight operator DB Schenker on a cost neutral arrangement for the council. The original operator, JG Russell, exited a 15-year contract last year because it could not sustain the losses.
