The Government has accepted the Airports Commission’s recommendation for a major programme of work on improving rail and road links to airports.
The most tangible commitment is £50m towards a £180m (2008 prices) plan to redevelop Gatwick Airport station. The project would feature a new concourse and better access to platforms. The Government’s contribution is subject to the satisfactory completion of commercial negotiations with the airport.
