Police Scotland may enforce 20mph speed limits in Edinburgh under a new service level agreement struck with the city council. The council will pay the police £2.6m for community policing in 2014/15 and, under the road safety heading, the agreement states that activities “may include enforcement of 20mph speed restrictions where necessary and where highlighted through the Community Improvement Partnerships process and local intelligence”.
