The Mayor's cycling czar Andrew Gilligan has revealed to the BBC that there has been "absolutely overwhelming support" for proposed north-south and east-west segregated cycle lanes across central London.

As the consultation closed on Sunday, Gilligan said that of 14,000 responses, 80% of respondents were in support. The media has covered prominent opposition to the proposals. He also pointed out that Rothschild and Deloitte had signed up in support. "These businesses are all in the city, they all love it.

"There is only one business in the city that has come out against it and you have them in your piece, Canary Wharf," he told the BBC Politics Show.
