Oyster-style smart ticketing on all local bus services should be delivered in Sheffield, in a city deal announced by Nick Clegg, the deputy prime minister and a Liberal Democrat MP in the city.
Some of the transport aspects of the deal are vague, and some observers have also pointed out that the pledges are notably weaker than the recent devolution announcement for Greater Manchester. The Sheffield press release lists four transport components:
