Road traffic volumes in Britain hit a new record in the year ending June 2015, according to the DfT.
The Department estimates that motor vehicle traffic rose 2.3% in the year. The provisional figure of 314.6 billion vehicle miles is the highest rolling total ever, about 0.1% above the pre-recession peak for the year ending September 2007.
