Several streets in Edinburgh are now closed to cars during peak hours as part of a bid to make it safer for children to walk to school at the start and end of the day. The first phase of the School Streets scheme was launched on 22 September, which was World Car Free Day.

The initiative aims to create a safer, more pleasant environment. The scheme promotes travel to school by walking and cycling. It is hoped this will, in turn, reduce congestion and pollution in the area. City of Edinburgh...
