Cycling practitioners from across the UK and beyond will be converging on Leicester next year to discuss how best to promote active travel, reports Rory McMullan

On 19-20 May 2016 Cycle City Active City will be taking place in Leicester, which has been described by The Guardian as an “unlikely poster boy for cycling”.

Cycle City Active City delegates will have opportunities to see the results of the Connecting Leicester Programme which has transformed Leicester into one of the most walking and cycling friendly cities in the UK.

Event organisers Landor LINKS will be teaming up with TABS ‘The Association of Bikeability Schemes’ to co-host the National Cycle Training Conference in Leicester. We will also be working with Wheels for All to host their national conference on inclusive cycling and The European Cycle Logistics Federation on a UK event.

We are calling for papers about best practice in planning for and promoting active travel from across the UK, Ireland and the world.

We also welcome submissions from academics, consultants, local authority officers and councillors, developers, LEPs, workplaces, suppliers to the sector and campaigners on any of the following themes for Cycle Active City Leicester.

To submit an abstract please use our online form: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/57PZRG5

Issues to be discussed at Cycle City Active City 2016 will include how active travel benefits business, cities and health, as well as Bikeability training and cycle logistics.
