That Dr Butchart (Letters LTT 19 Feb) thinks that no “abnormally high numbers in any selection period” at one camera site means that selection bias and regression to the mean (RTM) do not exist, implies that he does not know that many sites are selected for reasons rather than recent crash history.
I am surprised not that such sites exist but that he believes that data from one such site trumps data from the thousands used in my analysis that shows clearly the bias and RTM...
