Officers at Caerphilly County Borough Council in South Wales have promised “mitigation measures” during a mass cycling event this summer, following complaints about road closures for last year’s event.
The popularity of sport cycling since the 2012 Olympic Games has seen many local authorities in Britain accommodate ‘sportive’ events on completely closed roads, while maintaining as much access as possible for routine road users.
