The Weardale and Dartmoor Railways both made a loss last year, results posted by their owner, British American Railway Services (BARS), show.
Both railways are run by Community Interest Companies, who operate tourist trains, including the Polar Express services during the winter months.
The Weardale Railway, which connects Stanhope and Bishop Auckland in County Durham, saw turnover rise 19% in 2015 to £1.5m, growth that is attributed to the success of the Polar Express season....
