Derbyshire County Council says developments to LED (light emitting diode) technology make it safe and economic to install on the principal road network (PRN).
Derbyshire launched a £23m three-year programme to install 68,000 LED streetlights on residential roads in December. The project is expected to cut the council’s energy bill by £1.2m a year.
