Highways England is exploring upgrading only one section of the A1 between the M25 and Peterborough.
The A1 East of England strategic study, commissioned to inform the next five-year Road Investment Strategy, studied the 62-mile section of A1 from the M25 to Peterborough (jctn 17).
Last autumn’s stage three report said there were “challenges in making a corridor-wide investment that brings consistency to the route” (LTT 16 Dec 16).
