The take-up of government grants for on-street electric vehicle chargepoints has been “extremely disappointing”, says the DfT. Since the launch of the On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme more than a year ago, just £150,000 out of £1.5m available for 2017/18 has been awarded, a DfT spokesman told LTT. 

Only five councils - Portsmouth, Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, Cambridge, Luton and Kettering – have applied for grants, which cover up to 75%...
