The National Infrastructure Commission has called for a shake-up of the local transport funding system in England outside London, and for the DfT to increase urban transport funding.
The NIC’s first National Infrastructure Assessment says local transport authorities should be awarded “stable, devolved infrastructure budgets”, just like Highways England and Network Rail.
