Ribble: an iconic bus operator

LTT?contributor and retired bus manager Roger Davies has written a book to mark the centenary of North West bus operator Ribble’s formation. We asked him what made the operator special, and why buses are so close to his heart

When did your connection with buses begin?

RD: I was a bus enthusiast from as far back as I remember but the defining moment was in 1971 when I was attached to City of Cardiff Transport as part of my degree course. They were great and let me do lots of things, including a service revision. On start day, I watched a full bus leave and thought “I did that”.
