The number of reported deaths on Britain’s roads in 2018 was 1,782, similar to the level seen in every year since 2012, according to provisional statistics published by the DfT.
Car occupants accounted for 777 (44 per cent) of deaths, pedestrians 454 (25 per cent), motorcyclists 354 (20 per cent), pedal cyclists 99 (6 per cent), and other 98 (5 per cent).
