Taxis and private hire vehicles in Southeast Wales may have to be electric under plans being considered by the Cardiff Capital Region Transport Authority.
The ten councils have appointed low emission vehicle research and consultancy organisation Cenex to advise on a strategy for low emission taxis and private hire vehicles.
Cardiff Capital Region director Kellie Beirne told councillors that the draft strategy was due to be completed at the end of July.
