Hertfordshire County Council has made delivering an east-west mass rapid transit (MRT) system the priority for the the east-west A414 corridor in which major housing growth is planned. The A414 connects Harlow to St Albans and Hemel Hempstead. At St Albans the A405 continues to Watford.
