Axe HS2 and upgrade existing lines instead, says Berkeley

When transport secretary Grant Shapps appeared before the House of Commons transport committee last autumn he said no one would be able to call the Government’s review of the HS2 project a whitewash because it was led by Doug Oakervee, a former chair of HS2 Ltd, and its deputy chair was Lord Berkeley, one of the most vocal critics of the project (LTT 25 Oct 19).
