Brighton’s temporary active travel measures divide opinion

Petitions for and against the retention of two temporary traffic management measures to assist active travel were received by councillors in Brighton & Hove last week. 

The petitions concern the  closure of Madeira Drive on Brighton’s seafront and cycle lanes installed on the Old Shoreham Road. Both schemes were implemented this spring during the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.
