The DfT has launched a consultation on options for improving the reliability of Manchester’s railways.
Manchester’s rail network is heavily congested, with the busy two-track Castlefield corridor between Manchester Piccadilly and Deansgate particularly prone to delays that have knock-on effects for the wider network.
The consultation presents three options affecting different routes. The agreed option is scheduled to be introduced in May 2022.
