The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has criticised all three options in the DfT’s consultation on restructuring rail services in Manchester to improve reliability (LTT 22 Jan).
The combined authority says the proposed removal of direct services between Southport and Manchester Piccadilly, which features in all three consultation options, is “totally unacceptable”. The service would run to Manchester Victoria instead.
