Ford has made a commitment to invest £380m in the transformation of its plant in Halwood into an EV component producer. The plant currently produces transmissions for internal combustion engine vehicles. Last year it won assembly of Ford electric vehicles’ power units, which brought an initial backing of £230m to deliver 250,000 units a year from 2024.
