Motorcycles in bus lanes proposal generates interest

DfT consultation attracts over 11,000 responses in first month

Government proposals allowing motorcycles to use bus have attracted over 11,000 responses in the first month of a consultation.

The government’s Plan for Drivers raised the idea that motorcycles should be allowed access to bus lanes by default, as is the case for pedal cyclists.

Local authorities already have powers to allow motorcycles in bus lanes, but the consultation looks at whether to make this the default position.
