Ed Plowden is returning to Bristol City Council after four years as Programme Director of Paths for Everyone at Sustrans. In his new role he will be taking on the role of Policy Committee Chair of Transport and Connectivity at the council as part of the new post-Mayoral governance system. While at Sustrans, Plowden lead the improvement plans for the National Cycle Network across the UK. Before joining the charity he spent 11 years at Bristol City Council
He said: “I am very sad to leave Sustrans, where we now have a plan for every mile of the National Cycle Network and are improving its accessibility. However, I am also looking forward to returning to the Council in a political role, where I previously served as Head of Local and Sustainable Transport, as possibly the first Green Party Transport Portfolio holder of an English Core City.”
