Electric vehice chargepoint manufacturer Compleo has launched a campaign urging universities, colleges and schools to claim their share of a government grant before it closes in March 2025.

The 'Charge up your Campus' campaign is bringing awareness to this little known fund which allows academic institutions to claim up to £100,000 towards the installation of EV charging points.

With education budgets under severe constraints, the grant offers institutions a way to electrify their car parks, with minimal outlay. While institutions have to apply before 31 March 2025, they have 180 days to spend the voucher, providing the flexibility to put the costs into next financial year.

The grant is for state-funded schools and education institutions to install electric vehicle chargepoint sockets at their sites. They can get 75% off the cost to buy and install chargepoints up to a maximum of:

  • £2,500 per socket
  • 40 sockets across all sites including any applications made previously via the Workplace Charging Scheme

The criteria are set out in the application form.

Clare Nicol, head of marketing and communications for Compleo UK, said: “We know that the education sector is under more financial pressure than ever. So we wanted to bring a little fun to the message. We know that if your job is to manage car parks, there’s always something to do, it can be a lot of hassle. Adding EV charging can feel like such a daunting task , that you just don’t know where to start. And that’s where we want to help.”
