The UK is calling on the European Commission to accelerate plans to bring aviation into the EU's Emission Trading Scheme. The EU's consultation (LTT 4 Jan) proposes a phased approach to implementation, beginning with all intra-EU flights in 2011 and all departing and arriving flights from 2012.
