Transport for London’s (TfL) current Urban Design team will be running two walking-focused, hands-on and interactive workshops at Cycling + Walking Innovations, both led by Andy Martin. One is a ‘ped shed’ workshop; where pedestrian shed is a concept for creating the basic building blocks of walkable neighbourhoods. If people are going to walk, there have to be places to walk to, and a ‘ped shed’ is the area encompassed by the walking distance from a town or neighbourhood centre, in human and accessibility terms.
Transport for London’s second workshop is a tactical urbanism workshop, focused on the Small Change, Big Impact, practical guide to changing public spaces, and featuring a practical introduction to using the Small Change, Big Impact toolkit with communities, plus learning from existing case studies. Delegates can register online for first-come, first served, access.
