A tariff on new homes is to be used to pay for new transport infrastructure in Kent Thameside under a funding package just agreed by Dartford and Gravesham Borough Councils.
Developers will have to pay a £5,000 tariff per dwelling to the councils for over 10,000 homes to be built in the Thameside area. The £52m raised from the tariff will contribute towards the delivery of a Strategic Transport Programme valued at £166m (today's prices and with a 15% contingency).
