A NUMBER OF people with public transport connections have been awarded New Year honours. Topping the list is Network Rail chairman Ian McAllister who has been awarded a knighthood in recognition of his services to the transport industry.
Already holding a CBE, he is a former chair and managing director of motor giant Ford’s UK operations, and is also chairman of the Carbon Trust. McAllister also holds a senior non-executive directorship of drinks group Scottish & Newcastle.
