Train operators this week said that inflation-busting fare increases were needed to pay for further investment in Britain’s railway network.
From January 2, unregulated fares will increase by an average of 5.4% - 1.2% above RPI - the Association of Train Operating Companies announced. Regulated will rise by 4.8% - 0.6% above RPI.
