Transport Scotland and First ScotRail have placed an order with Siemens Mobility for the supply of 38 Desiro electric multiple units, worth over £240m, including maintenance and spare parts services. The order, a first for Siemens Rolling Stock in Scotland, will raise the UK’s Desiro fleet to 354 units. The 38 new trains, to be built in Germany, will enter into service in December 2010, and will operate initially between Ayr and Glasgow....
