FGW’s rolling stock proposal could see a new fleet for West of England

First Great Western has submitted a proposal for new rolling stock to the Department for Transport which could provide it with a fleet of new trains for its West of England services.

Contrary to the indicative allocation in the DfT’s rolling stock plan, FGW has proposed that a new fleet should be ordered for the Cardiff-Bristol-Portsmouth service. The rolling stock plan  suggested that Class 150 trains could be cascaded from London Midland.
