Seats are why London needs a new double deck design

Some members of the GLA want to hear “one convincing argument why London needs a new double decker bus” (Transit January 9). I hesitate to answer on behalf of Mr Johnson or Mr Hendy but having tried to get a similar message across to members of the House of Commons Transport Committee during 2007, I will put forward my answer: seats. Double deck passenger vehicles offer a lot more seats per metre length of the vehicle than single deckers. Passengers want seats.
