Don’t wait for ISA – we can install driver operated speed limiters now

The research on Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA) by Professor Oliver Carsten and his colleagues is admirably thorough (ibid). It is clear, nevertheless, that there is no prospect of externally activated variable speed limiters coming into widespread use any time soon. That does not alter the facts that enforcing speed limits is very important and that on-vehicle methods are the best way of doing so. It is time to look again at the alternative to externally activated variable speed limiters...
