GMPTE launches new graduate scheme for next generation of project managers

Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive has launched a new recruitment website to help attract graduates interested in a future in project management.

The PTE - which is responsible for major transport infrastructure across the county - is looking for three graduates to join its inaugural scheme.

The two-year programme is aimed at developing project managers, with permanent roles at GMPTE for successful candidates. During the scheme, graduates will work in several project roles, as well as experiencing work in other areas of the business.

Paul Griffiths, GMPTE’s interim projects director, said: “At GMPTE we plan and deliver some of the biggest construction projects in the North West. Among many other things we build transport interchanges, upgrade rail stations and are currently working on a £600m expansion of the Metrolink tram network.

“GMPTE has an excellent track record of delivering high-profile projects on time and on budget and we want to make sure our next generation of project managers keep that up.”

To be considered for the role candidates must have achieved a degree, preferably in areas such as transport, engineering or construction, although other disciplines may also be considered.

The successful applicants will gain in-depth knowledge and practical experience through a variety of placements and formal training to develop their career as a project manager.
