Train operator First Great Western’s “star employee”, Wayne Spence, has received an MBE for going the extra mile for passengers.
Platform supervisor, Spence, aged 48, was honoured in the New Year Honours at Buckingham Palace following 28 years of service to the transport industry.
Currently based at Bristol Temple Meads, Wayne is always to happy to provide up-to-date information to First Great Western customers and has even been known to find passengers in the café to update them on service changes.
First Great Western’s managing director, Mark Hopwood, said: “Wayne is a shining example to all of us at First Great Western and it is fantastic to see his efforts rewarded in this way.”
