New link could be extended to Reading, hints Harris

Rail minister Tom Harris has hinted that he could look favourably on proposals to extend the Crossrail’s western branch from Maidenhead to Reading.

“We have asked the select committee looking at the Bill in the Commons to look at Reading,” he told the Railway Forum annual symposium. “We will take stock of that when we see what the select committee says, but I accept there is a case for extension to Reading.”
