An independent transport commission has urged Cambridgeshire County Council to submit a Transport Innovation Fund bid to the DfT but not to commit to introduce congestion charging.
The commission says congestion charging should only be introduced after £500m of transport improvements are in place and only when congestion has passed an agreed ‘trigger point’. It says the earliest this would be is 2017.
