As always I enjoyed Phil Goodwin’s article. But can we have a follow-up one please?

We need to reconcile the simple fact that traffic has risen almost every year since 1950 with the more subtle analysis that traffic intensity is falling. It seems that there are factors pushing in both directions – the traffic intensity per GDP may be reducing but will this be outweighed by increases in GDP, so that total traffic continues to rise?
