Cardiff’s Valley Lines rail network could be an excellent candidate for electrification, the DfT has told members of the National Assembly for Wales.
Transport secretary Lord Adonis pledged this summer that the Government would electrify the main line to Swansea and officials told the Assembly’s enterprise and learning committee that electrifying the Valley lines could follow on.
