A road safety campaign aimed at young drivers is perhaps more ambiguous than its creators intended

The London Road Safety Campaign has recently been re-running an advertising campaign that I don’t remember noticing last year, with the slogan ‘lose your license and you’re just a kid again’. The main message, supported by various radio and cinema advertisements, is a rather strong argument that having a car is what defines your adulthood and if you lose it you will lose your independence and respect and have to rely on other people for lifts, just like a child does.
