The Office of Rail Regulation has rejected an application by Arriva Trains Wales to introduce a direct rail service between Aberystwyth and London Marylebone.
In rejecting the application, the ORR said that ATW had overstated the size of the potential market for such a service and the only alternative to make the service viable would be to abstract revenue from other operators.
