Cut the deficit – scrap Crossrail and high-speed rail

“Crossrail is underway: it is happening, it is being built, spades are in the ground, and no decisions have been taken to change the scope of the project.” So said transport minister Theresa Villiers in the House of Commons in an attempt to reassure those people worried that Crossrail might be scrapped.
